My name is Mistie Hammond and I was elected in May 2016 for Auxiliary President 2016-2017, Department of Alaska Auxiliary. My eligibility is under my Grandfather a WWII Veteran. I joined in 2007 and you can say I fell in love with the organization and what it stands for. By joining the Auxiliary it gave me a chance to give back to many military family members, and friends in my life.
This year, I hope to help our department and members embrace that “times are changing” and we need to embrace this change within our organization. I want us to work together, reach out to all those young veterans and their families let them know we are a resource for them.
My special project this year is the Armed Services YMCA food pantry we have one on JBER and Wainwright. This group helps our military in need of food, personal hygiene and baby items, not every state has this program.
I look forward to this amazing year with all of you and promise to do my best for this department and for our veterans and their families.
